ECDIS information overlay service delivers real-time vessel specific risk alerts

ChartWorld, a leader in digital navigation solutions, has launched a new Security Alert service as part of the CIO+ (Chart Information Overlay) service. The CIO+ Security service provides real-time, vessel-specific risk alerts to shipmasters directly overlaid on the ship’s ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System). Powered by a strategic partnership with Ambrey, a world leader in maritime security and risk management services, CIO+ Security Alerts delivers actionable geo-referenced intelligence on threats such as piracy, drone attacks and regional instability. By informing crews and operators of potential threats along their routes, this service improves maritime safety without constant monitoring.

CIO+ Security Alerts integrates seamlessly with the ship’s ECDIS through ChartWorld’s optional eSync Box, MyRA service or via email. Direct display of real-time alerts on the ECDIS eliminates the need for back-of-bridge monitoring, allowing shipmasters to take proactive measures to avoid danger or potential conflict. The service offers global coverage and leverages community-driven insights from over 1,000 vessels daily. With CIO+ Security alerts, shipmasters can make more informed decisions regarding route planning and risk mitigation, reducing the likelihood of encountering dangerous situations.

“Our purpose at ChartWorld is to help ship operators run more efficiently and operate safely through compliant and innovative digital solutions,” said Oliver Schwarz, Business Development Director at ChartWorld, “Conventional threat monitoring methods are simply inefficient, require constant back-of-bridge attention and often lead to delayed responses. Our CIO+ Security Alert solves this problem and offers ship masters added peace-of-mind when confronting increasing threats like piracy and geopolitical instability.”
