What maritime agentic AI systems might look like

In this webinar, we'll share a vision of how the future maritime agentic AI system may work.

Lots of people are talking about how agentic systems are going to transform multiple industries including maritime. This is the belief driving the enormous share prices of AI companies.

How should it best happen in our industry?

Since we are People Tech Maritime, we'll take a people first approach, with agents supporting people not attempting to replace them.

Maritime agentic tools may be largely based on self-hosted small language models (SLMs) which companies buy and control. Not expensive foundational large language models (LLMs) such as those provided by OpenAI and Anthropic.

The heavy lifting of maritime digital applications may continue to be done with the structured applications we have today, because they have industry processes embedded in them. Such as for maintenance, procurement, emissions, chartering, work co-ordination and safety.

But we may use small language model based agents to fill in the gaps between these structured applications, like filling of a cake.

For example to:

- Connect one data silo with another, so people can see what they need from activities in another department.

- Help maintain our situation awareness, and warn us at appropriate times.

- Make it easier to find what we need from company records, documents and emails.

- Support training - everybody can have 1:1 style tuition in whatever they need, like learning a musical instrument

- Notify us about useful things we maybe didn't spot.

- Make it easier to enter the same data in multiple systems, or provide the same data in different formats



- A chatbot interface to complex software
