People Tech Maritime returns to Oslo on Feb 17, 2027 for our second Oslo event, where we'll look at building LLM competency, taking a model / structure driven approach, better managing vessel performance data, and the evolving cybersecurity challenge.

BUILDING LLM COMPETENCY:- what is the current best practise when implementing LLM based / agentic tools in shipping companies? What is working? What should people know? Where might we go next? How do we make AI / LLM tools easier to understand - both their outputs and their operations?

TAKING A MODEL / STRUCTURE DRIVEN APPROACH TO DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY:- technology implementations are often driven by a desire to adopt new technologies. Alongside that, we need to think about the structures of our systems. What situation awareness do employees in different roles really need, including with all relevant data contextualised with other relevant data, and how can technology best provide it? How do we move from fragmented e-mail based situation awareness to seeing the most critical information on a single window? When we use agentic AI, how to we manage their output so the whole company can make use of it, and what happens if different companies provide the agent and provide systems to manage the data? Do we need better approaches to data management? If we need more structure behind our systems, what form should that structure take?

BETTER MANAGING VESSEL PERFORMANCE DATA:- it is easy to imagine what good vessel performance data management looks like - with all the steps automated and integrated from gathering data from ships to having a data set for decision making and reporting. But is proving extremely tough to get from here to there. Today we have a complex mixed bag of sensor / manual data gathering, many different digital tools and a great deal of manual processing. Do we need better models of how we will work with data? How can we get there faster?

LATEST BEST PRACTISE WITH CYBERSECURITY:- cybersecurity is rising up the list of shipping industry priorities, but remains highly untractable as a management topic. It is very hard for management to know where there company stands, what they need to change, and if they need training, technical solutions or something else. Spotting and resolving hacking continues to be largely down to expert skill. What do experts think shipping companies should be doing now?
