Vortexa today announced the launch of Anywhere Freight Pricing Forecasts, a fundamentals-driven, AI-powered forecast that gives freight trading desks and commercial shipping teams a forward view of rates up to 90 days ahead, built from a decade of proprietary physical market data rather than FFA curves or market sentiment. The launch coincides with Posidonia 2026, where Vortexa is meeting with freight trading and shipping professionals across the week.
As global energy and freight markets become increasingly complex and volatile, freight traders, charterers, brokers and shipowners are under growing pressure to make faster, better-informed decisions on freight exposure, vessel positioning and fixing strategy. While FFA curves reflect traded market expectations, they often capture sentiment more than the underlying physical conditions driving future freight rates.
Anywhere Freight Pricing Forecasts addresses this gap by applying AI to a decade of Vortexa’s proprietary cargo, vessel and freight market data to deliver an explainable forward view of freight rates, helping market participants identify where physical fundamentals are pointing before that view is fully reflected in the market.
“Freight markets have historically relied on a combination of spot assessments, forward curves and human judgement to form a view of where rates are heading,” said Fabio Kuhn, Founder and CEO of Vortexa. “With Anywhere Freight Pricing Forecasts, we are adding a new layer: a fundamentals-driven forward view built from the physical reality of global cargo flows, vessel availability, fleet positioning and arbitrage economics. This is not about replacing trader judgement - it is about giving freight desks and commercial shipping teams a clearer, earlier and more explainable view of the forces that will move rates next.”
By surfacing the physical market drivers behind each projected rate, Anywhere Freight Pricing Forecasts gives freight desks visibility into not just where rates are expected to move, but why. Early access clients have highlighted this as a decisive factor in whether a forecast is usable in practice. "The models that lose credibility are the ones where you dig into the drivers and find something that has nothing to do with shipping," one early access user said. "Transparency about what's actually feeding the forecast is what makes it usable."
Anywhere Freight Pricing Forecasts is now available to Vortexa subscribers. The product includes AI Explainability, giving users visibility into the physical market inputs behind each projected rate so they can understand the fundamental reasons behind the forecast so they can interrogate it, not just consume it.
