The Port of Singapore Authority has released a “Port Marine Notice” warning seafarers that flying drones can be a criminal offence.

In July 2026, a seafarer on a tanker was found operating a drone for recreational purposes at 76m altitude approx. 1.8km from Changi Airport. The seafarer was fined $3,000 “in default of” 6 days imprisonment.

In June 2026, a seafarer on a bunker tanker was found operating a drone at 42m altitude, 3.2km from Changi Airport. The seafarer was fined $5,000 “in default of” 10 days imprisonment.
