Meiji Shipping Group has selected FrontM INFOTAINMENT to strengthen fleet communication, ship-shore collaboration and crew engagement through its MMS Channel.

Across shipping, important safety, compliance, welfare, learning and company messages are still frequently distributed through static noticeboards, circulars and email attachments. The challenge is no longer simply sending information. It is ensuring that messages are noticed, understood, acknowledged and acted upon by seafarers working across different shifts and locations onboard.

Meiji Shipping Group is a diversified Japanese maritime group with activities spanning vessel ownership, ship management, manning and seafarer development across multiple vessel segments.

Through MMS Co., Ltd., the Group places strong emphasis on safe and reliable operations, environmental responsibility and the continuous development and wellbeing of its people. FrontM is the AI-native operating platform for the maritime industry, helping shipping companies convert improved vessel connectivity into practical onboard experiences through its modular solutions.

Its INFOTAINMENT module solution provides a timely way to move beyond internet access as infrastructure and use connectivity more purposefully for safety, compliance, learning, crew welfare and closer ship-shore collaboration.

Meiji will initially deploy three FrontM Loft Kiosks per ship, collectively creating the onboard touchpoints as the MMS Channel. The visible, touch-enabled kiosks will deliver targeted “Osekkai Initiatives” (safety and welfare campaigns), company updates, dynamic animations, reels and townhall videos in formats designed for the everyday working environment onboard.

The kiosks will also support live training and the streaming of shore-based events. Touch programming will enable surveys, quizzes, forms, digital acknowledgements and crew feedback, while built-in cameras and two-way video conferencing will support toolbox meetings, live discussions and direct interaction between vessel and shore teams.

President of MMS Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Capt. Ryusuke Yoshigae commented: "Good communication is not only about sharing information, but also about ensuring that it reaches our seafarers in a clear and practical way. The FrontM Loft Kiosk trial showed that information can be delivered more effectively through an accessible and interactive platform. It also provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen communication between ship and shore while supporting safety, compliance, learning and crew welfare. Based on these positive results, we have decided to move forward with the MMS Channel."
