Maranics, the operational data platform for demanding industries, today announces the
closing of a financing round led by Disruptive Ventures, the Swedish operational investor
focused on accelerating fast-growing technology companies. The round includes
participation from Norwegian co-investors Benedicte Mjös Hagen and Tom Melbye Eide,
both senior executives with long careers in shipping and energy. Existing shareholders
Västekustens Affärsänglar (VASTAF), the west Swedish business angel network, and
private investor VK Mooring also participated in the round, reinforcing the confidence of the company’s earliest backers in Maranics’ continued trajectory. VASTAF holds a deputy board seat in the company.
The announcement comes as Maranics reaches a significant operational milestone: the
platform is now deployed across 150 vessels, with customers executing more than 28,500
operational flows per month. The financing will be used to accelerate commercial growth, deepen the platform’s capabilities, and extend Maranics’ presence across the maritime, energy, and adjacent operational industries the platform serves.
Concurrent with the financing, Arne Peder Blix has been appointed Chairman of the Board. Anders Nordlund, co-founder and Chairman since the company’s inception, steps down following more than four decades in shipping and a tenure that has guided Maranics from its earliest stages to a platform operating at production scale.
Disruptive Ventures is structured as an operational investor, providing portfolio companies with capital alongside hands-on support across sales, commercialisation, brand building, international expansion, HR, and IT development. The firm’s evergreen investment model reflects a long-term commitment to company building rather than short-cycle returns.
For Maranics, this means access to the operational infrastructure and expertise needed to scale commercially across multiple industry verticals, at the pace the market opportunity demands.
“The investors who backed this round are not passive capital. They bring networks,
operational expertise, and a genuine understanding of the industries we serve.
Disruptive Ventures has a proven model for helping technology companies grow.
Benedicte and Tom bring maritime and energy credibility that changes the
conversations we are able to have with operators. And having VASTAF and VK
Mooring reinvest is a signal that matters: the people who have been with us from the
beginning chose to back us again. Together, this is the foundation that allows us to
move at the speed this market requires.”

Board leadership and the chairman transition
Arne Peder Blix brings to the chairmanship a career rooted in operational maritime
experience. A graduate of the Norwegian Navy with subsequent roles across shipping and maritime technology, Blix led the initiative that brought electronic logbooks into SOLAS Chapter V at IMO in the late 1990s. He also participates as an investor in the current financing round.
“Most technology built for this industry was designed in offices, by people who had
never stood a watch. Maranics is different. It is built for the environment, by the
environment, not adapted to it. I led the initiative that brought electronic logbooks
into SOLAS Chapter V at IMO in the late 1990s. That was the foundation. Maranics
is what it makes possible. Rare enough to chair. Rare enough to invest in.”
Arne Peder Blix, Chairman, Maranics
Anders Nordlund, who co-founded Maranics and has served as Chairman throughout the
company’s development, steps down having guided the platform from conception to
operational scale. With more than forty years in the shipping industry, Nordlund’s tenure
represents the deep domain knowledge that has shaped Maranics’ product and commercial direction from the start.
“What I am passing to Arne is a company that has already proven its platform works
at production scale with demanding customers. We have 150 vessels running on the
platform and more than 28,500 operational flows executing every month. That is not
potential. That is proof. I am proud of what has been built and confident in the team
and the board taking it forward.”
