FrontM, the AI-native maritime operating platform company, Home2US Communications Inc, a global content distribution provider and GMA Network, the Philippines’ leading broadcast and media company, have partnered to enhance the quality of life at sea for Filipino seafarers.
Under the partnership, GMA Network’s flagship international channels will be available as 24/7 live linear streams at sea via Loft Multiplex, without additional antenna or onboard infrastructure changes. This enables ship operators to maximise the value of increased connectivity to deliver culturally familiar live television, helping reduce isolation while strengthening crew wellbeing onboard. GMA Pinoy TV delivers news, drama, variety and public affairs programming, connecting Filipinos worldwide to stories from home, while GMA Life TV features lifestyle, travel, culture and entertainment content.
Filipino seafarers form a significant portion of the global maritime workforce. Bringing trusted television programming to onboard televisions helps crews stay emotionally connected to home while creating shared viewing experiences in ship recreation spaces.
“In today’s operating environment, supporting crew wellbeing and mental health is not optional,” said Venkatesh Ramakrishnan, Lead Product Manager, FrontM and former seafarer. “Shared television experiences are proving to revive the rec-room, bringing crews together after long shifts and restoring a sense of normality and community that on-demand media alone cannot provide.”
Joseph Francia, First Vice President and Head of International Operations, GMA Network, added: “Filipino seafarers make extraordinary contributions to global shipping while spending long periods away from their families. Through this partnership, we are proud to bring GMA Pinoy and GMA Life TV to crews at sea, helping them stay connected to the stories, news and entertainment that matter most to them, wherever they sail.”
Emrah Ozkan, Founder, CEO and President of Home2US Communications Inc added, “Maritime crews have long been underserved when it comes to onboard digital experiences and content access. This partnership extends licensed Filipino programming to maritime crews worldwide and represents a breakthrough for seafarers and shipping companies.”
For ship owners and managers, Loft Multiplex offers a simple way to revitalise onboard recreation spaces, providing an easy and effective solution to reduce isolation and improve crew wellbeing without operational complexity.
