Procureship is proudly celebrating its 10-year anniversary as the maritime industry’s leading e-procurement platform as it continues to welcome a growing number of ship owners, operators and managers from around the world.
Launched in Athens in 2016 by Grigoris Lamprou and Aris Manassakis, the two founders brought their respective expertise in shipping operations and financial advisory together with a shared vision of creating a global online marketplace for shipping companies to access the vast network of suppliers and service providers available worldwide.
Realising at the time that the procurement process for many shipping companies was renowned for chaotic workflows and prone to human error, they looked to use automation, machine learning and other leading technologies to optimise and reshape the entire end-to-end procurement cycle in maritime. The end result was a flexible, data-driven platform that enables shipping companies to use a bespoke supplier recommendation engine to optimise their procurement decision making and create smarter and more effective operations that are embedded directly into their own ERP systems.
A decade after its launch, the Procureship platform is now used by more than 120 ship owners, operators and managers representing 2,600 vessels globally, including Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Monaco, Norway, Panama, the Philippines, Singapore, Trinidad & Tobago, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
More than 10,000 vessel vendors are now live on the Procureship platform, providing users with a competitive online marketplace of maritime partners to expand and enhance their procurement networks. Meanwhile, Procureship has also expanded its physical presence beyond Greece, opening offices in Denmark and Singapore, as well as now boasting a global team of more than 50 employees.
As it celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, Procureship continues to expand its product ecosystem with advanced modules designed to support the evolving operational and compliance needs of modern shipping companies. Alongside its core Purchasing, E-Invoicing, and IHM Maintenance solutions, the company has continued to develop its Freight Forwarding Optimisation, Tender & Contract Management, and (ESG) Vendor Management modules.
Thanks to the company’s long-term R&D investment in AI systems, Procureship is now uniquely positioned at the forefront of maritime technological advancement. AI-powered tools within its modules, such as E-Invoicing item matching and automatic Units of Measurement (UoM) conversion, enable clients to further optimise their operations, save time, and significantly reduce costs.
“Our core mission of making maritime procurement faster, smarter and more transparent has not changed over the past 10 years. Instead, Procureship has naturally evolved from more than just a piece of software to become an entire service offering for shipping companies. Over the past decade, the shipping market has shifted from asking ‘Why should we go digital?’ to ‘How deep can our digital presence go?’. I am proud that Procureship has become a major part of that drive for shipping to become more open-minded to new ideas and technologies, becoming the viable, reliable and effective solution that modern maritime procurement professionals are increasingly looking for,” said Grigoris Lamprou, Co-Founder and CEO of Procureship.
Unlike many technology companies, Procureship has prided itself on remaining a people-focused business that uses dedicated support agents to understand the unique needs of shipping companies, both in Greece and around the world.
“Procureship’s growth and success has come directly from the support and feedback of our clients, regardless of the number of vessels they have on the platform. We have spent the past 10 years listening to our users, understanding what they want and need from us, and building tailored modules that support their specific business needs. As we look ahead to the next 10 years, Procureship remains committed to evolving, adapting and meeting the high expectations our clients have for us,” said Aris Manassakis, Co-Founder and COO of Procureship.
